Grand Concourse

Grand Concourse

Overview:

Grand Concourse is an upscale fine dining restaurant in Pittsburgh's South Shore neighborhood, commonly known as Station Square. Their selections include steak, seafood, and a popular Sunday brunch. There is a saloon attached that has a more casual setting than the restaurant. I decided to go for their Sunday brunch.

The Food:

For brunch, I was able to try many of the items they had to offer. I first went for the seafood and got mussels, smoked salmon, and peel-and-eat shrimp. Everything tasted fresh and the shrimp was my favorite off that plate. Next, I got more seafood but also tried their prime rib. It is hand-sliced by a chef at a table so you get the freshest cut of meat. I also waited in a short line for a plate of cavatappi with white clam sauce. This is also made fresh to order by a chef and was delicious. I got the famous freshly made donuts, a sticky bun, and an apple turnover for dessert. The donut was my favorite dessert item and you grab your donut from the donut machine in the saloon.

Service:

The waitress during the meal was great. She ensured we knew how to get our food and checked frequently for refills or anything else needed.

Atmosphere:

The inside of the Grand Concourse is truly stunning! Being an old train station, you feel like you are eating in a piece of history. It also adds to the experience if you eat in the sunroom on the side of the restaurant which gets ample natural light and a gorgeous view of the city. The attached saloon is also nice to walk through but does feel dated.

Rating: Good |⭐⭐⭐⭐✩|

Grand Concourse offers something that the whole family can enjoy!  My only real complaint is the price of the meal which is $42 per adult for brunch. For this price, I feel they can offer more higher end menu items. This could include filet mingot, crab, oysters, and tuna. The nicest cut of meat they offer during brunch is the fresh prime rib. However, their Sunday brunch stands out as a great option for holidays like Mother's Day or Father's Day. The food is delicious and of great quality. That coupled with their great view of the city makes Grand Concourse a classic spot for a special day out in Pittsburgh!
