IL Pizzaiolo (Indiana Township)

IL Pizzaiolo (Indiana Township)

Overview:

Il Pizzaiolo is a small Italian restaurant chain in Pittsburgh PA. It is more upscale than typical Italian restaurants and has a menu with many distinct dishes. I visited the Indiana Township location which is near Fox Chapel and O'Hara.

The Food:

The food at Il Pizzaiolo was delicious. We ordered arancini, Caesar salad, and a margherita pizza. The Arancini plate had two with meat and two with cheese. They were fried to perfection and placed on top of marinara sauce. For our main course, we got the margherita pizza and Caesar salad. I thought the salad was great with it even coming with anchovies which we got on the side. The dressing was fresh and the salad had kalamata olives as well. Il Pizzaiolo's best dish was hands down their margharita pizza. It was cooked to perfection and had fantastic sauce, mozzarella cheese, and basil leaves.

Service:

Our service at Il Pizzaiolo was great. We went on a weekday for dinner and the restaurant was not busy. The waitress came by many times to ask how we were doing during our meal. We asked for more bread and oil which she gladly gave us.

Atmosphere:

The inside of Il Pizzaiolo was very well decorated and the atmosphere was nice. It felt like eating inside of a tavern but the lighting from the doors and windows made it feel warm and open. There is also a bar at the front when you come in and a patio outside to eat on.

Rating: Excellent |⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐|

Overall, Il Pizzaiolo is a solid Italian restaurant to go to in the north hills of Pittsburgh. There are other locations, but the one I visited in Indiana Township was a great experience. I think the food is great, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable. The prices at Il Pizzaiolo are fairly expensive, however, if you order a pizza and not their pasta dishes, you will not spend as much money.
