Fujiya Ramen North Fayette

Overview:

Fujiya Ramen is a set of two Japanese restaurants in Pittsburgh. The original is in Shadyside, and the new location is in North Fayette. I have been to the first location and wanted to try the new one. From what I remember, the Shadyside location was great. They offer ramen, Japanese special dishes, and small plates to share. At the North Fayette location you can get takeout, delivery, or dine-in which is what we did. Below are the hours of operation.

The Food:

We decided to get ramen and one of the Japanese specialty dishes.

Naruto Ramen
Naruto Ramen

I got the Naruto ramen which included a miso broth, pork belly, fish cakes, nori, bamboo shoots, egg, and scallions. All the ingredients paired well together and it made for a very flavorful dish. My favorite part was the half of a seasoned egg they give you which was perfectly soft boiled.

Curry Rice

Our second dish was the curry rice. It had Japanese curry, carrots, chicken, onions, rice, and also came with a side of miso soup. I really enjoy Japanese curry. It has a robust flavor that is very unique from other curries. The chicken and veggies were great. On top they also sprinkle pickled radishes.

The final dish was tonkotsu ramen which consists of a pork bone broth base. It also has pork belly, scallions, spinach, kikurage mushrooms, and a seasoned egg. This ramen was not as salty or strong as the Naruto ramen. The spinach was also an unusual but tasty addition to a ramen dish. I also enjoyed the kikurage mushrooms which added a crunch to the ramen.

Service:

Our service at Fujiya Ramen was fast and efficient. We initially walked in and saw the whole place was busy and people were standing around. However, to our surprise we got right in once we checked in with the front desk. We got waters and food orders placed quick. Our dishes likewise came out in good order and the waitress was friendly.

Atmosphere:

Inside The Restaurant

I thought the inside atmosphere of Fujiya Ramen was very well done. All the walls and ceilings were meticulously decorated with lights, lamps, sake, and wood. It was also quite cozy inside and there are not a lot of tables to sit at. They do have a bar at the back with high top seats.

Rating: Excellent |⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐|

Fujiya Ramen is a great addition to Robinson Town Centre. It is within close distance to the mall and other shops in the area so it is convenient to try for lunch or dinner. The ramen and Japanese dishes are top notch and are clearly made with love. I think it is one of the top-tier ramen restaurants in the city on par with Kyuramen in East Liberty. I thought the service was fast and the inside is really nicely decorated. It definitely is a nice spot for a date or special night out. If you are looking for other great ramen in Pittsburgh try Teachana in the Strip or Sushi Tomo in the North Hills. If you want something out west by the airport/Robinson there is also Industry Public House nearby.
