Nakama (Wexford)

Nakama (Wexford)

Overview:

Nakama is a local chain of Japanese sit-down restaurants that specializes in steak and sushi. The main experience is the hibachi dinner that comes with a live food cooking show and healthy portions of meat and sides. However, I decided to try takeout here for the first time.

The Food:

I got a Philadelphia roll for takeout and the rest of my group got fried rice and veggie rolls. The portion sizes you see for the veggie roll and Philly roll are twice as big because I got a BOGO deal through Uber Eats. My Philly roll was full of smoked salmon, avocado, and cream cheese. I thought that was good but the veggie roll was even better. It had pickled daikon, tofu, avocado & cucumber all wrapped up in soy paper. Each part of it was great but the pickled daikon really tasted good and the soy paper was a pleasant surprise to the normal seaweed wrap. Nakama's hibachi fried rice was also great and had lots of good flavors.

Service:

The ordering experience and pickup for the takeout were decent. I placed the order on Uber Eats and it said it would take a half hour. I waited most of that time inside the store and it came out in about 20 minutes. The Nakama staff members who waited on me were also friendly and packaged my food nicely.

Atmosphere:

I only waited in the lobby area but the inside of the place seemed really nice. I know they have multiple hibachi tables similar to other restaurants like Ichiban.

Rating: Good |⭐⭐⭐⭐✩|

Nakama is a good choice if you are looking for Japanese food. It is not truly authentic Japnese food but it is pretty good. I would only recommend this place if you can find deals on delivery apps like Uber Eats. I found a few BOGO deals that made the meal decently priced. Although, the normal price of each menu item is fairly expensive. So be prepared to spend more money if you dine in or do not get a deal.
