The Food:
Totopo's food was really good all around. We started with drinks and appetizers. The drinks were cold and refreshing, while the chips and dip were all unique and tasty.

Pick Two Combo |
The pick two combo is a great option if you do not know exactly what to get. We got a chile rellano and burrito which was enormous. It also comes with a side of rice and beans.
 |
Topo-Changa |
The Topo-changa is one of the signature dishes here and it was very good. It had shredded chicken, topped with cheese, and wrapped in a fried tortilla. I think this is definitely one of the best chimichangas in Pittsburgh. It’s nice they do not overload it with toppings it’s very simple. You also get a side of the fiesta rice.

Carne Asada |
I ordered the carne asada steak. It was a grilled ribeye with onions and a grilled jalapeño. They serve it with a side of rice and beans. This was my favorite dish on the table. I thought they cooked the steak to a perfect medium rare. The seasonings along with the onions and jalapeño added to the flavor.
Service:
The service at Totopo was good overall. Our waitress got our orders and food relatively fast even though we ordered a lot. It was nice they continued to refill our chips and salsa.
Atmosphere:
The inside of Totopo is very nice with the wall coloring, lamps, and ceiling art all adding to the feel of the place. The stuff on the ceiling when put together looks like a multi colored fan.
Rating: Good |⭐⭐⭐⭐✩|
Totopo Cocina & Cantina is a solid choice for Mexican food in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. The food, service, and atmosphere is all good. Our only complaint was one of the margaritas we ordered was apparently not on the happy hour special that was going on. I think this place is comparable to the Franklin Inn Mexican restaurant in the North Hills. However if you are looking for Mexican food in the South Hills, give this place a try.
