Acrospire Brewing Company

Overview:

Acrospire Brewing Company is a local brewery situated on Mt Royal Boulevard in Shaler Township. The brewery is named after the plumule or shoot of a grain of barley or other cereal used in malting. This is for good reason as they offer a variety of beers on tap, like IPAs, ales, sours, and porters. Acrospire has many events throughout the year, such as beer yoga, Shaler Football pre-game, food trucks, and more. Below are the hours of operation for Acrospire Brewing.

The Food & Drinks:

Honeycomb Oat Honey Ale

The beer we tried at Acrospire was crisp and refreshing. I had the honeycomb ale, and my parents tried the cherry cherry sour ale. The honeycomb had a distinct orange and honey taste with just the right amount of hops. This made for a balanced sweet ale that I would definitely try again. The cherry cherry ale was very sour in a good way and had a nice fruity punch. 

Beef Tallow Fries w/ Cheese

There was also Pastrami Jack's food truck parked outside when we went. They have a variety of specialty and signature sandwiches on the menu, like brisket, corned beef, and pastrami. We had already eaten dinner, so we got an order of the beef tallow fries to share. They were honestly the best French fries I've ever tried. The beef tallow adds a rich flavor to the potato, and it makes them more savory and delicious!

Service:

The service at Acrospire is awesome! It was our first time here, and getting beer from the tap area was easy. When you first walk in, the tap area is to the left. We got our beers pretty quick, and the pours were great. 

Atmosphere:

The inside of Acrospire is open and inviting with brightly colored walls and decoration. I like that there are retractable windows that can be opened when it's nice out. Where the beer gets made in the back is also open, and you are able to see the beer-making in action.

Acrospire Brewing is a wonderful place in the North Hills to grab a drink and hang out. There are lots of events going on here, so there's always something to do when you come. They get high-quality food trucks throughout the week, so you can enjoy a great meal with your beer. You can tell a lot of hard work and love go into this place, as it stands out among the many breweries in Pittsburgh to be one of the best!
