Hitchhiker Brewing

Overview:

Hitchhiker Brewing is a local brewery in Sharpsburg, a small borough right outside Pittsburgh. They focus on high-quality, craft beer made from scratch. All the beer is made in-house in the brewery's brewing tanks. Most of the beers on tap are more experimental flavors for many different beer types. Hitchhiker has lagers, ales, IPAs, sours, and dark beers. 

The Drinks:

Beer Flight

The beer at Hitchhiker Brewing is interesting and a breath of fresh air. Most of the beers on tap are cool flavors you can not find anywhere else. We tried a mix of ales, IPAs, lagers, and sours. Our favorite flavor overall had to be the PB&J, which tasted just like the aforementioned sandwich. The IPAs were hazy and hoppy, so if you like IPAs, this is your place! At Hitchhiker, you can also get beer-flavored soft serve ice cream with a rotating flavor. 

Service:

The bartenders at Hitchhiker were very friendly. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed and told to check out the menu. I told them it was our first time coming here, and they were very happy to have us and got our drinks when we decided on something to drink. 

Atmosphere:

The best part about this brewery has to be the atmosphere. When you first walk in, you are hit with the cool rustic feel of the place. I believe the building used to be an old car shop, which can be seen with the open garage door on the side of the building. The inside has brick walls, minimal decorations, and large beer tanks in the back. However, when you walk into the courtyard area in the back, it has lots of picnic tables, umbrellas, and nice greenery.

Hitchhiker Brewing is a great place to visit in Sharpsburg if you are looking for a quick drink or to stick around and hang out for a while. All of the beer is made in-house and tastes great. All of the bartenders are super friendly and are more than happy to get your next drink or try a sample of something new. If you are hungry, there is also a rotating list of food trucks that park out front. Come try Hitchhiker Brewing here in Sharpsburg or at the other location in Castle Shannon!
