Lin’s Garden

Dining Room

Overview:

Lin's Garden is a Chinese restaurant situated on Route 8 in Gibsonia, PA. They are known for American Chinese dishes such as General Tso's chicken, lo mein, and sweet and sour chicken. You can dine in or get takeout through online ordering or calling ahead. There are plenty of seats inside, so there is usually no wait to be seated, even during the dinner rush.

The Food:

Crispy Wontons w/ Sweet & Sour Sauce
Crispy Wontons w/ Sweet & Sour Sauce

Everything we got at Lin's for dinner was really good. First, they start you off with a complimentary dish of crispy fried wonton strips and sweet and sour sauce. These were a great snack to munch on while we waited for our food. In recent years, most Chinese restaurants have stopped giving these out before your meal.

Wonton Soup

The wonton soup here at Lin's was very tasty. I enjoyed the hearty chicken broth and generous portion of wontons.

Velvet Chicken

I ordered the velvet chicken for my dinner. They describe this as a delicate white sauce with chicken and veggies. It came with corn, carrots, broccoli, and mushrooms. Overall, it was a great dish with the chicken being cooked perfectly and the veggies giving the dish a crunch. The sauce was great too, with not too strong a flavor and egg whites mixed in as well.

The classic General Tso's dish was a perfect addition to our dinner. It comes with crispy fried chicken, sweet sauce, and spicy peppers mixed in. General Tso's also has a healthy dose of garlic and ginger to give it an extra punch.

Chicken w/ Broccoli
Chicken w/ Broccoli

The final dish we ordered was chicken with broccoli. This is a milder version of General Tso's, in my opinion, as it has a lighter brown sauce. This dish is less sweet and has a salty, savory taste instead. I enjoyed the addition of broccoli, as it gave each bite a great crunch.

Service:

The service at Lin's Garden was good in my opinion. Everything came out in a great time, and we were never waiting long for anything we ordered. I thought the service was actually too quick at times with the waitress taking some of the dishes before we were even done.

Atmosphere:

The atmosphere inside Lin's is definitely more old-fashioned. The place overall needs updating, but it still has the charm of an old Chinese restaurant. They even give you the placemats with the Chinese zodiacs, which used to be in lots of Chinese restaurants. There is artwork on the walls and music playing while you eat. I would consider the place to be laid back and relaxing, and it is mostly old people eating here, especially during dinner.

Rating: Excellent |⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐|

Lin's Garden is a timeless classic Chinese restaurant. It has always been a reliable place to get great Chinese food on Route 8 in Gibsonia. The food always comes out hot and fresh. I think the service is always on the ball, and the inside is cozy, especially on a cold winter night. The prices at Lin's are also very reasonable. Some other Chinese restaurants in Pittsburgh have dramatically raised prices, while Lin's is still great.
