Camino
Overview:
We recently decided to try another Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh. This led us to a new place, right on Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield, called Camino. They specialize in tacos, burritos, and fajitas. You can choose to dine in, pick up takeout, or have it delivered. We chose to eat inside the dining room right near the window by the street. I have included the hours of operation as listed on the website below.
HOURS: MONDAY TO THURSDAY 11AM–10PM
FRIDAY & SATURDAY 11AM–11PM
SUNDAY 11AM–9PM
The Food:
The meals we all had at Camino were really delicious. First, I thought it was a good idea to try the chips and salsa, which are usually a cornerstone for a Mexican restaurant. Thankfully, I ordered it because the chips were perfectly seasoned and the salsas were super flavorful. The green one was a mild tomatillo green, and the red was a hotter chili arbol salsa.

| Carne Asada Tacos |
For my entrée, I got the carne asada tacos. They had flank steak, guacamole, pico, pickled jalapenos, and salsa on the side. I thought the steak was juicy and flavorful, while the guac and other toppings enhanced the flavor. It was nice to see them using corn tortillas for the tacos.

| Veggie Fajitas |
Another entree we ordered was the vegetable fajitas. They included cauliflower, portabella, corn, zucchini, bell peppers, and fried plantains. Additionally, you get black refried beans, sour cream, pico, shredded cheese, and tortillas on the side. I tried some of the veggies and was surprised by how good they tasted. My favorite was the portabella mushrooms.

| Pastor Chicken Burrito Bowl |
Our final entree was the pastor chicken burrito bowl. The pastor chicken is seasoned with pineapple, so it has a sweet and spicy taste to it. Mixed with the rice and other toppings, it made for a scrumptious burrito bowl.
Service:
Overall, our service at Camino was definitely lacking. Our waiter came by initially to get us water and chips with salsa. However, after we got our food, we ran out of chips and water. It took the waiter a while to come back, and we had to ask another server for the stuff we needed. I believe our waiter was also the bartender, and he was busy over there. It was just unfortunate that we were not checked on for most of the meal.
Atmosphere:
The inside of Camino is very modern and upbeat. There is a bar as you walk in that wraps around to the right. On the left is the dining room with bright red walls and black tables with chairs. There was a decent noise level inside the restaurant, but we did come during a busy dinner rush.
Rating: Good |⭐⭐⭐⭐✩|
Camino is a nice addition to the many new restaurants on Liberty Ave in Bloomfield. The area has become a hotspot of trendy new places like brothmonger and Fet Fisk. At Camino, you can get tasty entrees like the veggie fajitas, carne asada tacos, or a burrito bowl. While the service was just ok, it was probably a one-off since it was busy. I enjoyed the atmosphere inside, which was vibrant and alive with people. Give Camino a try if you are in Bloomfield looking for Mexican. If you are looking for other options, I have also reviewed Mezcal Mexican Cantina right down the street in Lawrencville.
