Lawrence Hall

Lawrence Hall

Overview:

Lawrence Hall is a food hall situated in the neighborhood with the same name, Lawrenceville. Being right on Butler Street, Lawrence Hall is right in the middle of the booming food scene in the area. I was excited to try this place since the only other food hall I have been to is Federal Galley

This place has four restaurants inside along with an ice cream shop. The restaurants are Cuddy's Soul Food, Loaded, La Palapa, Kazoku, and Scoops & Cones. Lawrence Hall offers dine-in, takeout, and delivery through various delivery sites. Below is also the hours for the place.

The Food:

Kazoku Poke Bowl
Kazoku Poke Bowl

I got the Kazoku poke bowl for my dinner, which had tempura shrimp, crab, edamame, cucumber, avocado, and white rice. The combination of all the ingredients was very good and something different from the tuna or salmon poke bowls I normally order. I thought the tempura shrimp was not super hot, but mixed with everything else, it was good.

Spicy Tuna Avocado Roll

The spicy tuna avocado roll from Kazoku was also great. They use fresh avocado and tuna with spicy mayo to make this a tasty sushi roll. I thought the rice at this place was great, and it was good in the sushi as well.

Miso Soup

The one thing we thought was just ok from Kazoku was the miso soup. It did not taste as flavorful or bold as miso soup should.

Bang Bang Dog
Bang Bang Dog

I ordered a bang bang corn dog from the Loaded restaurant. This dog came with bang bang sauce, sesame seeds, and scallions. I ordered the half-dog, half-cheese, which was a great flavor and texture profile change while eating it. If you do half and half, then they literally put half of a hot dog in the corn dog, and the rest is a block of fried cheese, very good.

Kimchi Dog

The kimchi and Thai Taki corn dogs were ordered by other people in the group, but they said they were fantastic. I did try the topping from the taki dog, which was really good. It had spicy mayo, sweet chili sauce drizzle, and Takis.

Avocado Salad

The rest of the food we got from La Palapa, the Mexican restaurant at Lawrence Hall. First was the avocado salad. It had lots of greens and a whole avocado sliced on top. They also served a dressing on the side that tasted like a salsa verde.

Chips & Salsa

Lastly, we had the chips and salsa. Honestly, there was not much to say about them as the salsa tasted watery and bland.

Service:

The service at Lawrence Hall is a bit confusing, as there are waiters and servers, even though it's a food hall with different restaurants. If it's your first time, just go to one of the tables and scan the QR code for the menus. Once you order everything, a server will bring all the food from each place to your table. I would prefer to get the food myself and sit down, but it was still ok. They also bring water, napkins, and utensils to your table before your food comes out; however, we had to get most of that ourselves.

Atmosphere:

Bar

The inside of Lawrence Hall is very impressive and nicely designed. When you first walk in, the scale of the place hits you. There are high ceilings with wooden support beams in the rafters. All of the restaurants are to the right, all in a row. The bar is to the left and has huge mirrors and nice exposed brick behind it. You can also eat upstairs, where there are also pinball machines.

Rating: Good |⭐⭐⭐⭐✩|

Lawrence Hall is a nice place to relax and have a good meal, while also getting a beer or a cocktail. They really have it all here, from the variety of cuisine to the interesting design. I really enjoyed most of the food we had here, like the corn dogs and sushi. Some of the stuff was not great, like the chips and salsa or the miso soup. However, I think everyone can find something they like here and each place is unique enough to warrant multiple visits to try everything!
