Old Thunder inside the old Post Office in Blawnox

Overview:

Old Thunder Brewing Company is located on Freeport Road in Blawnox, PA. They have a medium-sized taproom and outside area to grab a drink, sit, and relax. Old Thunder’s tap list has a lot of variety which include lagers, IPAs, ales, sours, and even cask beer. They also have rotating list of food trucks throughout the week. The Food & Drinks:

Old Thunder Brewing has a lot of beer on tap to offer. We tried a few beers while we ate dinner. I tried the "What We Know" which is described as a pub-style wheat ale w/ Pilsner and wheat malts and a blend of Cascade and Tettnang hops: notes of grapefruit zest, multigrain bread and fresh hop flowers. The second beer was the "340 Lager" described as the finest German Pilsner malted barley and a blend of Hallertau hops, single-decocted and naturally carbonated: clean, succinct, and endlessly drinkable. I enjoyed both beers and they were cold and refreshing. 

OTP Chips

Old Thunder Brewing had a food truck parked out front during our visit which was Off The Press Burgers. They have a small menu of burgers, sandwiches, and chips. We ordered two of the classic burgers, a Shroomsburgh, and OTP chips. The chips were homemade and had burger patties, onions, and city sauce on top. All of the burgers were delicous as well with the classic being my favorite.

Service:

The service at Old Thunder was great. We approached the bar as we got in and the bartenders immediatley asked what we wanted. As with the other brewery places, they were really cool and allowed us to sample the beer and take our time choosing what we wanted. 

Atmosphere:

The inside of Old Thunder is very modern and well decorated. It is the site of the old post office in Blawnox now turned into the brewery. The floors are hardwood and the tables and decorations are sublte but tasteful. You can sit inside at the tables or outside in front of the building at more tables.

Old Thunder Brewing is a cool and modern brewery to visit in Blawnox, not far outside Pittsburgh. I thought the beer and service was top notch and the inside was cozy with lots of seating. The food trucks they get outside are another nice touch as you drink a beer and grab dinner. Old Thunder Brewing joins the many top-notch breweries in Pittsburgh serving high-quality beer and having great food trucks.
