Hop Farm Brewing Company

Overview:

Hop Farm is a local brewery situated right on Butler St in the Upper Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. It is a popular spot to grab a beer and hang out for a while. There are multiple rooms to sit in, and they have a kitchen with different menu items throughout the year. All of the beer at Hop Farm is brewed in the back in large tanks and you can see them when you sit in the large lounge room. Below are the hours of operation as listed on Google.

The Drinks:

Dinosaurs In Space IPA

“Dinosaurs in Space” is a hazy session IPA brewed with Mosaic hops that strikes a satisfying balance between bitterness and smoothness. The hop profile brings out bold citrus and herbal notes, giving the beer a vibrant edge. Despite its bitterness, the finish is clean and mellow, making it easy to enjoy sip after sip. The haze adds a soft texture that rounds out the flavor. It’s a flavorful and approachable IPA with just the right amount of bite. I did not order anything to eat this time around, but next time I would like to see what kind of food they are cooking up. 

Service:

The bartender at Hop Farm was friendly and pretty good. It did take a little longer to get a drink when we arrived because they were getting ready to close up for the night which I understand. 

Atmosphere:

The atmosphere at Hop Farm was calm and relaxed during our visit, likely because we arrived close to closing time. There’s plenty of seating spread across three distinct areas, each with its own vibe. The first room features a traditional small bar with a few stools and a cozy feel. Beyond that is a transitional space with a couple of tables, perfect for quieter conversation. The final room opens up into a spacious social hall with TVs, ample tables, and two pool tables—just ask the bartender for the balls to play.

Hop Farm earns an excellent rating for its quality beer, friendly service, and standout atmosphere. The spacious social hall is the highlight, featuring tables made from real tree trunk cuts that add a rustic, handcrafted charm. Even late in the evening, the vibe was relaxed and cozy, with plenty of seating across multiple rooms. From the traditional bar up front to the open garage-style layout and pool tables in the back, the space feels thoughtfully designed. It’s a brewery that invites you to settle in and enjoy your time.
