Jackworth Ginger Beer

Overview:

Jackworth Ginger Beer is a unique bar situated on Hamilton Ave in the Larimer neighborhood of Pittsburgh. They are Pennsylvania’s only ginger beer brewery and serve a variety of ginger related drinks. You can get both alcoholic and nonalcoholic ginger beer and cocktails. They even have shots of ginger which you can get with alcohol or by itself. Below are the hours of operation.

WED thru FRI: 4:00 pm - Midnight SAT & SUN: Noon - Midnight.

The Drinks:

Moscow Mule

I thought the drinks at Jackworth were very unique and refreshing. The drink that immediately stood out to me and the one I ordered was the Moscow mule. It had vodka, simple syrup, lime, and the classic in-house Jackworth ginger beer. The ginger beer was strong and delicious which perfectly complemented the lime and vodka.

Blood In The River

The next drink we got was called Blood in the River which is actually nonalcoholic. It has nonalcoholic gin, lemon, and a maraschino cherry on top.

Hey Cowboy

The other drink we decided to try was the Hey Cowboy. It had bourbon, grapefruit, lemon, and Jackworth ginger beer. The ginger beer went surprisingly well with the bourbon, cutting through the heat with the snap of ginger.

Service:

The bartender at Jackworth was friendly. She talked us through the menu and what kind of drinks they had, since it was our first time here. The drinks were mixed perfectly and had a great balance of alcohol and mix-ins.

Atmosphere:

The inside of Jackworth is very cool. The bar is right to the left when you walk in and is subtley decorated. This gives the place an intimate feeling and there are less than ten spots at the bar. We sat at the few tables in the back of the place right next to the to-go ginger beer. All the way in the back, you can see the tanks of ginger beer that they are brewing everyday. The inside of Jackworth also smells like ginger when you walk in so you know they make this fresh everyday.
