About:

The Outer Banks is a fantastic stretch of beaches and towns along the North Carolina coastline. Many people from the Pittsburgh area frequent the Outer Banks every year for vacation to enjoy all it has to offer! I will be sharing some of my favorite restaurants in the Outer Banks so if you find yourself on vacation here, you can get ideas for where to eat! My Outer Banks Restaurants are in order from when I reviewed them not in the order that I like them.

Restaurants:

Jack Brown’s Burger & Beer Joint:

Jack Brown's

Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint is a bar located on S Virginia Dare Trail in Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks. Their menu is very simple only serving burgers, fries, sweet potato fries, and deep-fried Oreos along with a large beer selection. There is one table outside to eat at and they offer takeout or dine-in options.

3 Tequilas Mexican Restaurant:

3 Tequilas Mexican Restaurant

Three Tequilas Mexican Restaurant is a sit-down family joint in Kill Devil Hills NC. Here you can get a wide variety of Mexican food. Given their name, they specialize in large margaritas and different alcoholic drinks.

PokeBox:

PokeBox

PokeBox is a fast-casual poke bowl restaurant with two locations in the Outer Banks. I went to the Plaza del Sol location in Nags Head. They offer a simple menu of customizable poke boxes with lots to choose from.

Mahi Mahi's Island Grill:

Mahi Mahi's Island Grill

Mahi Mahi's is a restaurant in Nags Head North Carolina. It is an island grill with many different seafood options including shrimp, salmon, shellfish, and their namesake, mahi. There is dine-in and takeout available but they get busy quickly during their dinner service.

Hurricane Moe's:

Hurricane Moe's

Hurricane Moe's is a beachside bar & grill located in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The restaurant offers many different seafood dishes and drinks at its bar. There is a bar inside and outside on their 2nd-floor deck where you can also eat. Hurricane Moe's also has the best happy hour in the Outer Banks that is served from 3-5PM daily.

Rundown Cafe:

Rundown Cafe

Rundown Cafe is an Asian/seafood restaurant on the beach road in Kitty Hawk at milepost 1.5. Their menu changes but some of their staples include tacos, noodle bowls, and seafood.

Single Fin Thai-Sushi Restaurant:

Single Fin Thai-Sushi Restaurant

Single Fin Thai-Sushi Restaurant is located at 2424 South Croatan Highway on the bypass in Nags Head, North Carolina. They are open 11:30-9, Tuesday-Sunday, and offer lunch and dinner. If you are driving down the bypass in Nags Head it is in the same strip mall as Dunkin. Single Fin offers authentic Thai food and fresh-made sushi. They have Thai staples like pad Thai, pad see ew, and drunken noodles. If you want something in a bowl they have poke and curries.

Here you can eat in the dining room, or order takeout to go. You can also watch the sushi chefs make your order fresh if you sit at the sushi bar. There is also a traditional bar to order drinks from. For takeout, they have a website to order on or you can call the store. At the moment, Single Fin does not offer delivery through DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Grubhub.

Blue Moon Beach Grill:

Blue Moon Beach Grill

The Blue Moon Beach Grill is a popular restaurant at 102 E Dove Street in Nags Head, North Carolina. This is right on the bypass near the Sound Veterinary Hospital. They are open 11:30-9 every day except for Tuesday when they are closed. Blue Moon offers seafood, sandwiches, and salads. It is known for the Philly cheesesteaks and buffalo shrimp appetizer.

Blue Moon only offers a dine-in eating experience. You cannot order food for takeout or delivery. This makes eating at Blue Moon more difficult. Being one of the most popular restaurants on the beach, they quickly get busy for lunch, especially dinner. So reservations are a must when visiting Blue Moon. I recommend reserving a dinner spot a week in advance for dinner in the summer. They usually have spots open during lunch even the day of, but it also fills up quickly. You can book a reservation through Google which partners with Toast to provide reservations here.

Benny Tesoro's Pizza:

Benny Tesoro's is a pizza shop right off the bypass on Route 64 heading towards Manteo. It is located at 7531 S Virginia Dare Trail. They are part of a chain of pizza restaurants called Benny's with tesoro coming from the Italian word treasure. Benny's is open from 11-9, Sunday-Thursday. Then 11-10, Friday and Saturday. You can order pizza by the slice at Benny's or get one of their famous 28" pizzas.

Benny Tesoro's offers dine-in, takeout, and delivery for their enormous pizzas. If you eat there, they have a small dining room. We decided to get takeout through DoorDash. All I did was place a pickup order on the DoorDash app, which was ready in 20-30 minutes. Delivery is also an option through DoorDash if you do not want to pick up the pizza. The pizzas we ordered were so big, however, that we had a hard time getting them through the front door and into our car!
